The programme is a series of events and activities where the local community can connect with the Championships and be part of the event.
These activities include school visits from athletes, workshops for youth leaders and ticket offers for the Championships.
The first event was in early February when England Athletics hosted a volunteer conference at the University of Birmingham, who are a national supplier for the Championships. Ruby the official mascot of the IAAF World Indoor Championships, was even there to say a big thank you to the volunteers.
Activities in the run up to the Championships inclde;
• A series of school visits by athletes and coaches
• A youth leadership workshop during the Championships, with drop in visits from athletes
• A round of funding awards so that local clubs can access free training for volunteers
Hosted spectator sessions will also take place at the Championships, where a small number of local groups have been invited to attend the event and they’ll be hosted by a special guest to provide them with a unique, inspiring experience.
The first of these spectator sessions will involve a group of young high jumpers who will attend the opening session of the Championships.
